Choose a scanner for the work after the scan.

By DocFila Team · April 27, 2026 · Updated September 8, 2026 · 4 min read

A scan is the start. The job is a readable receipt, a completed form or an agreement ready to send. DocFila brings document capture, PDF tools and signing into one workspace, so your paperwork has a next step.

One document. A clear next step.

Think of an agreement that arrives on paper. Capture its pages, prepare the PDF, add your signature and share the completed copy. Choose the actions your file needs; each one has a purpose.

When the document needs more than a scan

A scan captures the page. OCR helps you reuse its text. DocFila’s Document Explainer takes the next question: what does this document mean? It can produce a summary, a plain-language explanation and suggested action items from document text.

Use a summary to orient yourself before returning to the original. AI output needs review, especially for dates, amounts and obligations. The explainer and other online services have their own plan and connectivity requirements.

Apple Notes: capture and sign on iPhone or iPad

Apple documents scanning multiple pages, adjusting the crop and adding a signature with Markup. Files also supports document scanning. For an occasional signed scan, these built-in options may cover the whole task. See Apple's scanning and signing instructions.

Google Drive: searchable PDFs in your existing storage

The Drive app scans documents into searchable PDFs on Android and iOS. Google distinguishes this mobile capture feature from the web version, which does not provide scanning. This is a useful starting point if Drive is already your document destination. See Google's scanner documentation.

Adobe Scan: capture with an Adobe PDF workflow

Adobe offers a free scanner with OCR. Its Scan and Acrobat apps work together for subsequent PDF tasks, while premium document handling can require a subscription. Check the exact export or edit you need before choosing a plan. See Adobe's scan-to-PDF guide and Adobe Scan FAQ.

How to compare free plans and paid features

A free download does not establish that every export, OCR batch or signing workflow is free. Check page limits, supported formats, account requirements and the next action after scanning. Compare the cost of finishing your document, including any subscription needed to edit or export it.

Check scan quality with your own document

  1. Use a disposable receipt and a page of small printed text under the same lighting.
  2. Check corners, shadows and whether every line remains readable at normal zoom.
  3. If you need OCR, search the exported file for a known word and check names and numbers manually.
  4. Open the export outside the scanner and check page order, file size and readability.
  5. Check storage, sharing and privacy settings before using sensitive originals.

This is a test you can repeat with your own documents; no comparative benchmark results are claimed here.

Finish the scanned PDF

After capture, combine PDFs, remove unwanted pages, or add a signature. Keep your original and inspect the final exported copy before sending it. Review DocFila's privacy policy for how data is handled.

Put your next document to work.

Start with the document in front of you.
