How to Install DocFila on Windows 10 & 11 — Free Desktop App

DocFila installs as a real Windows app on Windows 10 and Windows 11 in under a minute — no Microsoft Store, no installer EXE, no admin password. You get a dedicated app window in the Start Menu, file associations for PDFs, full offline support, and Snap Layouts integration on Windows 11. Here's the complete setup walkthrough.

What you'll need

• Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) or Windows 11 — any edition.
• One of: Microsoft Edge (recommended, pre-installed), Google Chrome, Brave, or Vivaldi.
• No admin rights required. Works on locked-down work laptops, school PCs, and Surface devices.

Method 1: Install from Microsoft Edge (recommended)

1. Open docfila.web.app in Edge.
2. Look in the address bar — you'll see an Apps icon (a monitor with a + symbol) on the right side.
3. Click it, then click Install this site as an app.
4. Confirm the name DocFila, click Install.
5. Edge offers extras: Pin to taskbar, Pin to Start, Create Desktop shortcut, and Auto-start on device login. Tick whichever you want, then click Allow.

DocFila now lives in your Start Menu, Apps list, and (if you pinned it) Taskbar. Launch it like any native Windows app.

Method 2: Install from Google Chrome or Brave

1. Open DocFila in Chrome or Brave.
2. Click the install icon in the right side of the address bar (a small monitor with a down arrow).
3. Click Install.
4. DocFila is added to the Start Menu and your desktop. To pin to taskbar: open the Start Menu, find DocFila, right-click → Pin to taskbar.

Set DocFila as the default app for PDFs

1. Open Settings → Apps → Default apps.
2. Search for .pdf.
3. Click the current default and choose DocFila.
4. Repeat for .docx, .jpg, .png, and .heic if you want DocFila to handle those too.

Now double-clicking any PDF in File Explorer opens it in DocFila instantly. You can also right-click a file → Share → DocFila to send it through the Windows share sheet.

Snap Layouts, Taskbar Jump Lists & offline mode

On Windows 11, hover over DocFila's maximize button to snap it into Snap Layouts (great for working alongside Word, Outlook, or Teams). Right-click DocFila in the Taskbar to access Jump List shortcuts: Scan Document, My Documents, Tools. Uninstalling DocFila

Open the Start Menu, find DocFila, right-click → Uninstall. Or go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find DocFila, click the three-dot menu → Uninstall. Your synced documents stay safe in the cloud.
